Location

The Municipality of Santa Maria is classified as a 1st class highly urbanized municipality in the province of Bulacan, Region III, Philippines.
Santa Maria is situated at the Eastern part of the province of Bulacan about 18 kilometers east of the City of Malolos, the provincial capital; 32 kilometers northeast of Manila. It is bounded on the north by the municipalities of Angat and Pandi; portion of San Jose del Monte City on the south; Norzagaray and other portions of San Jose del Monte on the east; and the municipalities of Marilao and Bocaue on the western side. Its geographical coordinates are 14° 49′ 15″ North, 120° 57′ 49″ East.

Water Sources

SMWD derives its water supply from twenty-two (22) production wells located in various site within the WD service area. Water from these deep-wells is pumped to the distribution system. The combined production capacity of these operational production wells is about 319.89 lps (27,638 cum/day). During dry season, the yield of almost all of the wells declines by about 10% to 15% of their usual yield capacities. SMWD also obtains its water supply from surface water source through bulk water supply at three (3) tapping points near the borders of Norzagaray, Bulacan. Raw water supply from Angat River in Bulacan is treated at the PhilHydro Company’s Norzagaray treatment plant.

The estimated production capacities and description of the above sources are briefly discussed below.
– Partida Tapping Point and Perez Tapping Point – Both are located at Sitio Partida, Brgy Pulong Buhangin. Elevation of tapping point is at 98 mmsl and 100 mmsl, respectively. Present supply capacity of about 11,500 cum/day combined.

– Tigbe Tapping Point – Located at Sitio Bagong Bario, Brgy. Balasing at the boundary of Brgy Tigbe, Norzagaray. Elevation of tapping point is at 78 mmsl. Present supply capacity of about 50 cum/day.
