In an effort to raise awareness on water conservation and proper waste segregation among our communities’ young learners, Santa Maria Water District held its Water Savers School Education Program last October 17, 2024 at Lalakhan and Bagbaguin Elementary School and on November 7, 2024 at M. Sapa Elementary School and Immaculate Heart of Mary Integrated School.

The event kicked off with an interactive presentation featuring engaging visuals and real-life examples that emphasized the importance of water and proper waste segregation in everyday life. Students were also introduced to the water cycle and the limited nature of freshwater resources on Earth.

Facilitators from the Customer Services Division and General Services Division led a lively Q&A session to gauge the students’ grasp of the topic. Those who provided correct answers were rewarded with prizes that sparkled excitement and active participation among the students.

The event wrapped up with the surprise appearance of SMWD’s beloved mascot – “Patak” who brought joy and enthusiasm to the students. Hygiene kits were also distributed as tokens of appreciation and to support SMWD’s commitment to fostering water-conscious habits in the community.
